On that occasion, we welcomed in S.Quirico d’Orcia about one hundred members of partners from five different E.U. countries: Italy, France, Portugal, Belgium and Spain.
The numerous, enthusiastic participants were received at PALAZZO CHIGI, the magnificent seat of the Tagliolini Foundation, by Naire Boniburini, Ugo Sani and Roberto Rappuoli, the local Mayor. They showed their gratitude to the organisers in front of the wonderful forms chosen to explain the theme of the ‘Vegetable Kingdom’ in the Italian culture: photography, sculpture, songs, street performances, herbariums, embroidery, culinary art, inks and calligraphy, art in gardening and palaces from Tuscany to Emilia-Romagna, two important regions that have given a significant contribution to the construction of the Renaissance in Europe.

Like for the two previous meetings, this one gave us the opportunity to assess the progress of our project, and the various activities accomplished after the meeting in Bacau last March.

The feeling is of general satisfaction, as the new outlines have been widely delineated: the web site presented by Jean Soulier, President of the French Association that coordinates the project is constantly enriched with new articles, like for example the Festival of the flowery torches by Rosaria Prospero of the Beliaev Centre in Faro, Portugal, or the new Rumanian articles by Dorel Nistor of the Educational Inspectorate in Bacau, Rumania, the Herbarium presented by Roberta Capillon, teacher of biology which is shown in the rich virtual herbarium of the web site.

New ‘Garden carnets’ are also online; the Drop Box, virtual space shared with all the partners is more and more used on a regular basis; the collective book ‘Languages du Vegetal en Europe’ masterminded for the project has finally found his final outline: virtual, multilingual, multimedia, with the possibility that it could be printed and published.

L’Art Postal, presented by Dominique Lannoy of the ‘Recrearts’ Association, Belgium, has developed to such an extent that it can be exhibited at Palazzo Chigi along with the ‘trans-cultural carpet’ installation born in Bacau.

This carpet, proposed by Aline Rutily when the project first started, is captivating a growing number new followers: from the 53 carres of Bacau to the present 83! This new installation has found its second impressive casket in the frescoed rooms of Palazzo Chigi, which give a further contribution to attract everybody’s admiration.

The high quality of the two Italian partners, their intent on making this meeting warm and exciting, their constant willingness and efforts, and the ability to work together as a team, have allowed the great success of this third transnational meeting.
