To adopt the students’ disposition towards daily used mobiles – smartphones, tablets – as a vehicle to develop the transversal and key competences of the students, particularly those with learning difficulties
PUBLIC
This pedagogical approach was devised and exploited at school to develop the digital competences of the weak students of the Agrupamento de Escolas Joao de Deus, Faro, Portugal. It was also experimented at the Botanical Garden of Padua (Italy) with European teachers during their Erasmus+ peer-to-peer training mobility from 14 to 18 May 2019.
KEY COMPETENCES

Learning to learn
Social competences and citizenship

OBJECTIVES
To establish new social links to share fitting information, new knowledges, innovative resources and emergent technological tools
To offer students the opportunity to develop new areas of knowledge, open new perspectives on the usage of ICT, web and mobiles
To lead the students towards the use of and translation from English, to read and understand the instructions related to apps
To learn how to employ them in the production and assessment of innovative, attractive, creative materials suitable to the needs of pedagogical programmes and projects

Instructions for the students

The students post their presentation on different digital supports. These tools favour the cooperative work allowing for the construction of a presentation, a video, a questionnaire by several people without them being physically present. An example of how to facilitate distance learning.
This activity arouses awareness about the fact that the 21st century, the Internet and the proliferation of mobiles and tablets generate an omnipresent parallel world which needs to be explained, employed and mastered. This question opens issues for reflecting on its fall out on education : which pedagogical objectives ? Which methodologies ? Which technological tools ? Which organisation and management of the structures ? Which evaluation and which new criteria ?
