The European project of the Beliaev Cultural Centre in Faro is focussed on creating choreography using themes developed by the Grundtvig partnership, Languages of the Vegetal in Europe, especially those concerning myths described in the arts and literature of Antiquity.

The Cultural Centre, managed by Evgueni Beliaev and Rosaria Prospero, is supported by the Faro city hall. It is connecting the European Project with the city’s choreographic events: the Algarve International Festival of Choreography in July and the anniversary of the Beliaev Company in October 2013.

Besides dance and choreography, the Centre brings a scientific element to the project, with azulejo workshops, through its partnership with the Joao de Deus Secondary School, the Estoi Palace and Almancil church.

The Beliaev Cultural Centre sees the languages of plants shown in religious rituals and customs, like the processions of the Flower Torches Festival. They also drawn on myths and legends involving plants, like the almond tree or the bay, a metamorphosis of Daphne pursued by Apollo.
