In Romania there is a the tradition to plant an oak tree in order to mark different significant moments of the social life.
This happened in various places in the country with the occasion of the Union of the Romanian Principalities (Moldavia with the capital in Iaşi and the Walachia with the capital in Bucharest) in 1859, the conquest and the proclamation of independence in 1877-1878 or the Great Union in 1918.
